The Gym 2010.....finally...the construction starts!!!

re designed the climbing frame constructed it and erected it today................on my own (took all day, last time it took two of us all day..........thankfully i had the fork lift to help turn it over)

going to cut the ends down on the dipping station..............didnt have this in last gym

also need to get two new brackets and then i will attach extra supports to the two pillars

the frame fits nicely between the MA area and the weights area too


plaster board coming tomorrow and guy coming to brick up the doorway between warehouses (its plasterboard now)....that wall will end up as a small srambling / climbing wall, more for grip than for real climbing

slept soundly, woke up early so was in the gym working by 6 am

finished off the dip bars

sorted out the mats properly in MA area, and layed out the mats under the climbing frame, worked out the amount of mats needed to finish that and the CV area

plasterboard arrived just after 8 and thanks to having fork lift on side where unloaded and in gym quickly...........put up about 8 or 10 boards i have about 7 sheets of white board left, which need wood to fix them too (to board in the boiler) , along with 6 sheets of green which are for the partition between changing rooms..............hopefully between other bits, this can all be finished by the end of this week. then painting the platerboard and the front of changing room wall

also need to hang all the punch bags..................and fill them

next week will finish major construction (more or less...showers can be fitted any time LATER!!) install the cctv's for inside and out side gym..........

I could actually open the gym (for pre opening membership and viewing) by AUGUST 1st

the shop part will still need stocking.........hopefully that wont take too long, if i can get through to the owner of the shop.............will also stock that cherry stuff that all the MMA guys are using

mad day today started at 6 am finished around 4pm

finished the drywalling then painetd it and 1 other wall

put up speed bag,

put up the chemical fixings for the punch bag brackets (4 so far) ..........the brackets will need to be drilled out as the chemical bolts harden very quickly and are a bit squed

doesnt look much but very time consuming

finished second coat of paint on 1 side and did first coat of other side, not the colour i chose, more a cadbury mauve, but it will do

thats all today


tomorrow i plan on finishing second coat on second wall

and finish putting up the brackets for the punch bags

went in thismorning with the intent of just finishing the second coat of paint and ended up putting all the punch bag brackets up (bah 1 i didnt have enough chemical for it...drilled holes ready though), then put down all the mats in the matrtial arts area..............looking good

then set out where all bar one of the racks are going to be and laid out all the floor mats

put the lockers in position more or less , still l have carpet to put down


so when i left it looked more like the gym its supoposed to be


NOT bad for week 1

we will have normal monthly memberships as well as pay and train and a unique voucher membership

we do not have classes at the moment, but would like to have some SMALL classes as well as "1 to 1" style or V small group classes for muay thai, bjj, mma, judo and wrestling,.... though the space we have may not be suitable
